About

An engineering practice that also buys the parts.

Most companies in this industry do one of those two things. Doing both changes the decisions you make in the first week of a project.

Why we exist

The same failure kept repeating. A design would be finished, signed off and handed to a buyer, who would discover that one line on the bill of materials had a forty-week lead time. The board went back to the engineers. The schedule moved. Nobody had done anything wrong, and the project was still late.

The fix is not a better process document. It is putting the engineering and the buying in the same conversation, so a part with a supply problem never gets designed in to begin with.

That is the whole idea behind Optipify. We design boards, we build and bring up prototypes, and we source the components — and because those are the same team, the trade-off between what performs best and what can actually be bought gets made once, early, with everything on the table.

How we think

Four things we do not compromise on.

01

The engineer picks the part

Component decisions are made by the person who has to make the circuit work, using live availability and pricing rather than a datasheet from 2019.

02

Availability is a design requirement

A part that cannot be bought in the quantity you need, when you need it, has failed the specification — no matter how well it performs.

03

You keep everything

Schematics, layouts, firmware source and documentation are yours in editable form. Nothing is held back to keep you tied to us.

04

You talk to the engineer

Questions go straight to the people doing the work. There is no account manager relaying a technical answer from someone you never meet.

We are a good fit when

  • You have a product idea and no in-house electronics team
  • A design is finished but the parts are a problem
  • An existing product needs a component replaced before it goes end-of-life
  • Your engineers are at capacity and something needs to move now
  • You want one party accountable rather than three

We are probably not, when

  • You need a single line item quoted at the lowest possible price and nothing else
  • The work is purely mechanical or purely software
  • You want the cheapest bid rather than the design reviewed
  • The decision has already been made and you need someone to sign off on it

If that is what you need, say so and we will point you somewhere better suited.
